Four men are facing charges after the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said they stole thousands of dollars worth of lawn equipment from home improvement stores to help pay for narcotics.

The sheriff monitored the residents of 3721 Stokes Ave. in Sarasota during a joint investigation with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. Deputies then watched the men visit multiple Lowe's and Home Depot stores in Sarasota, Charlotte and Manatee counties.

The men then pawned the stolen equipment or sold it to individuals, claiming they bought the items with gift cards and wanted cash, the sheriff's office said.

The men face 16 charges in Sarasota and six charges in Manatee including organized retail theft, grand theft and dealing in stolen property.

The suspects are:

-- Jason Davis, 21, of 3721 Stokes Ave., is charged with dealing in stolen property and providing false information to a pawn broker.

-- Richard Easton, 27, 4929 W. 34th St., Bradenton, is charged with dealing in stolen property.

-- Jacob Davis, 26, of 3721 Stokes Ave., is charged with grand theft.

-- Bruce Ponder, 26, of 3721 Stokes Ave., is charged with grand theft.
