St. Pete Beach, Florida -- A shake-up is going on in the city of St. Pete Beach.

St. Pete Beach City Commissioners plan to finalize a decision made Tuesday night to fire longtime City Manager Mike Bonfield during an emergency meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

He's held that position for 12 years.

Also at Tuesday night's meeting, St. Pete Beach Commissioner Jim Parent resigned.

The town has been divided for years between developers and the hotel industry, who want to develop the city into more of a tourist area. Many residents want to keep St. Pete Beach small and quant.

Mayor Maria Lowe says she is trying to get Parent to reconsider his resignation.
