Tampa, Florida -- Tampa Police say an infant in need of immediate medical attention has been found safe.
On April 4, the Florida Department of Children and Families obtained an emergency court order demanding the father of Victoria Smith return the child to state custody for necessary medical treatment.
Detectives believed Victoria had been taken by her father, Joe Smith, who does not have legal custody of his daughter.
On Thursday afternoon, police say they learned Smith had dropped off Victoria with a family friend in Land O'Lakes on Tuesday night. The woman saw a Facebook post by Tampa Police about the child, and immediately contacted authorities.
A detective met the family friend in Pasco County and took custody of the baby, who was unharmed and in good spirits.
Joe Smith has not been located at this time. He has active warrants for his arrest on drug-related charges. The child's mother is currently incarcerated.
Anyone who has information about Joe Smith's whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS or report online at www.crimestopperstb.com. Anonymous tips maybe eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
