Tampa, Florida - There's a new game in town when it comes to shopping for sporting goods.

Dick's Sporting Goods, the largest retailer of its kind in the country, had its grand opening at Westshore Plaza Friday morning, and Tampa Bay residents eagerly waited for the doors to open.

9-year-old little league player Connor Solomon was at the front of a long line with his dad. They got up bright and early in order to get a baseball bat. His dad says they previewed the selection at a soft opening. "He already picked it out, already knows which one he's getting."

People said they got up before dawn for the doorbuster giveaways and sales. The store's central location in Tampa is also a hit: fishing, batting gloves, golf balls, and Bucs gear were what some people were interested in.

Some shoppers went straight to the second floor, to the hunting area. One customer said he would be buying "ammo, like everyone else." Whatever sporting goods the shoppers wanted, they seemed to leave with a smile. Some described the grand opening as a home run.
