(USA TODAY) A deaf couple from Texas demanded an apology from American Airlines after seeing a note on their luggage that read: "Please text. Deaf and dumb."
When Angela Huckaby and James Moehle returned from a Hawaiian vacation, they found that the airline had lost their luggage. When they received it on Sunday morning, they saw the note scrawled on the luggage receipt, reports KTRK-TV in Houston.
"It was just outrageous and cruel and unnecessary," said Moehle's mother, Kay Moehle, in an interview with KTRK.
American Airlines issued this statement to KTRK: "We apologize to Mr. Moehle and Ms. Huckaby. It was clearly a very poor choice of words. We're confident there was no ill will, but we'll be looking into this further and will be following up with our team members at IAH (George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston) and the contractor that provides our baggage delivery services."
Kay Moehle said the person who wrote the note should be fired. "The dumb one is the one who wrote the note," she told KTRK.
