Riverview, Florida -- The thump of a box landing in the back of a Walgreens delivery truck is the sound of caring. Stacked one after another: they are boxes full of thanks.

Over the past month, 10 News viewers and Walgreens donated a lot of school supplies, enough to fill 300 Teacher's Toolboxes. And on Wednesday, it was finally time to hit the road and go to school.

Our first stop was West Shore Elementary in Tampa and Betsy Cowand's kindergarten class.

"We have a special delivery for your teacher and all of you," announced 10 News Anchor Allison Kropff, carrying a box in her arms.

"Oh my goodness!" exclaimed Cowand while opening the box to find a backpack on top. This veteran teacher says the box is a boost. "This little box here is like a goldmine to me. I'm so excited to see so many wonderful supplies coming in."

This was truly a banner day at the school, with banners in the hallway proclaiming "Thanks" to 10 News and Walgreens.

In Lauren Harmon's first grade class, the kids helped unpack the box with manic excitement. "I think they like this," said 10 News Anchor Dion Lim with a laugh, amid the throng.

The next stop was Burney Elementary in Plant City.

"Lots of fun stuff in here," 10 News Meteorologist Bobby Deskins said while bringing a box into a 5th grade classroom.

The kids there were notably excited over notebooks. "Thank you!" they shouted.

In classroom after classroom, the goodies generated grins. "I do have a smile on my face. I'm happy," explained 4th grade teacher Keyonna Richardson.

While each of the boxes are a bit different, filled with varied items, the reaction of kids and teachers to the supplies is pretty much universal: oohs and ahhs and thank yous.

At Lacoochee Elementary in Dade City, the 10 News team may have done some giving, but we also received. The kids gave us colorful cards. They'll be a memory of this dynamite day.
