Tampa, Florida -- There will be new transportation and new transformations for the City of Tampa, according to Mayor Bob Buckhorn. The mayor announced big changes for Tampa's future at his State of the City Address.

He paralleled his vision of revitalizing parts of the city with the building he made the announcement from, the Armature Works building along the Hillsborough River north of I-275.

He said the old building is part of dozens of Tampa revitalization projects and many of those projects, like the Water Works Park next to it, will soon create private capital for the city.

Mayor Buckhorn talked about the next 20 years of development from the Bollywood Awards coming to Tampa in April and putting Tampa Bay in the international spotlight again, to a light rail system connecting Tampa Bay and local neighborhoods.

He called on the City of Tampa to support a 2016 fall referendum to create the light rail system.

"When we choose to give people options and choose infrastructure, we all succeed," said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. "When we reshape a neighborhood and give that neighborhood hope again while honoring its past then we all succeed."
