(AZCentral.com) - A Prescott Valley man who was arrested on suspicion of unlawfully discharging a firearm told police that he was trying to shoot the moon, according to police.
Police were investigating a possible domestic disturbance Friday when they received a 911 dispatch call from a woman who said her boyfriend had fired several shots from a handgun and was still armed, Prescott Valley Police Sgt. Brandon Bonney said.
Cameron Read, 39, resisted arrest and reportedly caused damage to the residence after refusing to leave, police said. He was taken into custody by force.
Witnesses at the residence told police Read spoke of seeing Halley's Comet before reportedly shooting a round out the window. The witnesses told police they heard more shots fired as they fled the residence. No one was hurt, authorities said
Read admitted to firing the weapon several times and said he was trying to shoot the moon, police said. He told police he was not trying to harm anyone and admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the incident, police said.
