Tampa, Florida -- Help out biologists track three breeds of snakes in Florida.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is asking the public to report sightings of three species of native upland snakes:
- The Florida pine snake
- The southern hognose snake
- The short-tailed snake
All three species are found in dry, upland habitats and are often difficult to locate because they spend a lot of time underground. Since sightings are very rare, biologists are asking the public to submit their sightings to the snake registry. Doing so will help biologists evaluate the current status of these three snake species
Have you seen one of these snakes? Report it here!
