(KWCH) Sedan, Kansas -- A senior Labrador who has been having a tough time finding a forever home, is getting the royal treatment.

Kelsey Loyd works at an animal shelter in Kansas and said "Lady" had been adopted twice. But she still manages to come back to the shelter.

The first family said the senior dog didn't get along with other pets. "Lady" was then adopted to a second family, 30 miles away. She escaped from the backyard and walked back to her previous owner's home but they didn't want her back.

Since then, she's struggled to find a permanent home.

"Super dog, gentle, calm dog," Loyd said. "If I had to pick a dog this would have been the dog I would take."

"Lady's" life quickly changed when Helen Rich saw her story on Facebook. Rich is an heiress to the Wrigley's gum company. Rich lives in Florida and owns a shelter there. She's rescued more than 300 other animals.

She sent her assistant, Chet Ragsdale, to pick up Lady in style.

"She going to think she's gone to heaven," Ragsdale said.

Ragsdale flew into Independence Municipal Airport in a private jet to pick her up Thursday.

"It's a blessing to do a lot of nice things for her, she does a lot of great things for the community at home and through the world actually so it's nice to help her," he said.

Loyd said he wished he could tag-along for the trip.

"Sounds like a fantastic place where she's going," Loyd said.

"Lady" arrived in Tampa Thursday night.
