(CBS) - Fire fighters and wildlife volunteers in Australia, have brought a koala back from the dead, in a stunning rescue overnight.

Using mouth-to mouth, rescuers resuscitated the little marsupial. They even got pictures of it, as they did it.

Dazed and confused the koala is given a hug on the road to recovery after a night rescuers won't forget.

Koala Rescued with Mouth-to-Mouth

After being hit by a vehicle two nights ago the koala sought refuge in a tree.

Wildlife Victoria and the CFA attended to check on him last night - and he wasn't in good shape. They were able to drop him out of the tree but they knew he was in distress.

When he didn't respond, they began CPR. Oxygen was brought in and the little guy fought back. Dazed and shaken the koala came to.. And he looked familiar. They thought he was a koala known as Sir Chompalot. But rescuers were mistaken.

He now goes by Sean after the Fire brigade captain.
