ST. PETERSBURG, Florida -- Tampa Bay Rays senior advisor Don Zimmer celebrated his 65th consecutive season in uniform as a player, coach, or manager on Tuesday.

The Rays honored Zimmer's accomplishment in a pre-game ceremony, which included Don's son, Tom, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

Zimmer was brought to tears as the entire Rays bench cleared to surround and hug the eldest member of their team. His name also drew cheers from fans when he was announced with the opening day coaching staff ahead of Tuesday's game.

Don Zimmer is the grandfather of 10 News reporter Beau Zimmer, who sat down with "Pops" before the game.
