Tiger Woods announced on Facebook on Friday that he is going to play the Quicken Loans National next weekend at Congressional Country Club, a tournament he hosts.
"After a lot of therapy I have recovered well and will be supporting my foundation next week at the Quicken Loans National," he said.
"I've just started to hit full shots but it's time to take the next step. I will be a bit rusty but I want to play myself back into competitive shape. Excited for the challenge ahead."
He has put his game on the shelf following microdiscectomy surgery March 31 to alleviate pain caused by a pinched nerve in his back.
Woods has missed tournaments due to injuries to his back, elbow, neck, knee and Achilles.
He won the last of his 14 major championships at the 2008 U.S. Open.
