The East Lake Eagles continue to prove why they are ranked No. 2 in the Top 10 on 10 rankings. Bob Hudson's team is now 6-0 after clobbered the visiting Seminole Warhawks, 51-13 Friday night.
Seminole scored first - a 12 play (all runs), 75-yard drive capped by a Ra'Quanne Dickens touchdown run - but it didn't take long for East Lake to answer.
Marshall Kozma took the ensuing kickoff back for a touchdown to tie the game at 7. After a punt, East Lake pounced again. Weston Fordham took the handoff and raced over 50-yards for another score.
Tay Scott added a 60-yard punt return to make it 21-7. The Clemson commit zig-zagged his way across the field for the score, virtually untouched.
After allowing the Warhawks touchdown on the first drive of the game, the Eagles' defense shut Seminole down. Jake Hansen intercepted a tipped pass and returned it for another East Lake score.
In all, the Eagles ran one offensive play in the first quarter and led 28-7.
Seminole has struggled in Chris Miller's first season as head coach. The Warhawks have just one win. They lost to Palm Harbor by one point last week but all of their other losses have been by at least eight points.
East Lake began the season ranked No. 5 in our 10 News rankings but trail only undefeated Manatee now. Next week the Eagles will get Friday off and travel to face Countryside the following weekend. Seminole will try to bounce back from this loss when they host St. Petersburg.
