Tarpon Springs, Florida -- One of Pinellas County's biggest rivalries took place Friday night as the East Lake Eagles topped their neighborhood nemesis Palm Harbor University Hurricanes, 40-10.
The Eagles, the No. 1 team last season in 7A District 9, were in true form as they trampled the Hurricanes, 40-10.
The Eagles pulled out to a 27-0 shutout in the first half with 126 rushing yards. Eagles quarterback Jake Hudson would go four for seven. The Hurricanes would only be able to get a 15-yard field goal from Jordan Kollearly and a 13-yard touchdown by Stephen Charron to get points on the board.
Charron finished with 128 yards.
The East Lake Eagles will face the Largo Packers and the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes will be at Boca Ciega facing the Pirates on Sept. 5.
