The Fanatic app helps fans connect in their hometown or even out of town
Where are you watching the Gators' Final Four game from this evening? At home? By yourself?
There is no need to watch your favorite team by yourself anymore thanks to a special new app available on iPhone and Android.
The Fanatic app helps fans connect in their hometown or even out of town. All you need to do is type in your location, your favorite team and it instantly pulls up the most popular spots in town to watch your team.
Northwestern fan Jon Keselica dreamed up the idea after moving to New York after college.
"We went to a little bar on the upper west side to watch Northwestern games. It had one TV and there were three of us there," he said. "Now here we are ten years later and that crowd has grown to over 200 people on game days and that's a little more exciting."
This weekend, the Gators will try for a third national championship on the hardwood. Fans will gather at O'Brien's Irish Pub in Tampa and all over the country. The Fanatic app helps fans find fellow fans.
According to the app, the largest community of Gators fans live in:
5. Washington DC
Some of the top bars in these cities are:
1. Sneakers Sports Grill (Jacksonville, FL – The No. 1 overall Florida Gators bar)
2. SideBAR and The Gin Mill (New York, NY)
3. East Andrews Cafe and Bar (Atlanta)
4. JJ Mugg's Stadium Grill (Jupiter)
5. Roxy's Pub (West Palm Beach)
6. Pour House (Washington DC)
The Fanatic app even shows Gators-themed Final Four watch parties planned in London, UK (at Sports Cafe) and in Amsterdam (at Coco's Mine).
"The app will always be free," said Keselica. "You're born into fandom. It doesn't cost you anything."
