St. Petersburg, Florida -- Has there ever been this much hullabaloo over a single letter? No, but when that letter is linked to the biggest sporting event in the world, people will try to do drastic things to preserve the sanctity of the Super Bowl.
This NBC Sports report claims the committee in charge of the 50th edition of football's biggest game is concerned that the Roman numeral for 50 is a capital 'L' – the nearly universal schoolyard hand signal for "losers".
The big game will be played in Santa Clara, California. The report says the committee wants "to see the procedure for naming Super Bowls change" to avoid a, ahem, embarrassing "Super Bowl L".
