Tampa, FL -- The Buccaneers have signed free agent cornerback Mike Jenkins to a contract.
"We are pleased to welcome Mike back home to the Tampa Bay area," said Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht. "Mike is someone that we targeted early on in our free agency planning and we are excited to have him in the fold. He is a proven corner who provides us with a valuable veteran presence and we expect him to compete for a starting spot in our defensive backfield. "
Jenkins played last season with the Oakland Raiders, and the 5 seasons before that with the Dallas Cowboys. He was drafted 25th overall in the 2008 draft. Jenkins was the first-ever USF Bull to be drafted in the first round.
The 28-year-old Jenkins played his prep football at Bradenton Southeast High School.
