Tampa, Florida -- Mike Jenkins is back in Tampa Bay seven years after starring in his new/old stadium.
Jenkins signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason and will suit up on Sundays this fall in Raymond James Stadium.
From 2004-2007, he suited up at Ray Jay on Saturdays as a star for the USF Bulls.
"Hopefully we can get this thing turned around this year," Jenkins said about his Bulls. "Kind of fell off last year and go in a positive direction."
USF has a combined 5-19 record over the past two seasons, but Jenkins is encouraged by USF's move to hire Bradenton native Willie Taggart.
"I met Willie Taggart a couple of years ago," he said. "We're actually from the same hometown. I kind of have a personal relationship with him."
Jenkins started 40-of-48 games at South Florida and totaled 133 tackles, six interceptions, five forced fumbles and a school-record 47 passes defended.
