President Obama begins a week-long trip to Asia on Tuesday, but first makes a stop in Washington state.

The president travels to Oso, Wash., to "view the devastation from the recent mudslide and meet with the families affected by this disaster, as well as first responders and recovery workers," says the White House schedule.

The March 22 mudslide killed at least 41 people and buried dozens of homes in Oso, which is about an hour northeast of Seattle.

After the Washington stop, Obama heads on to Tokyo for the start of his Asia trip.

In the coming days, Obama will also visit South Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines.
