Tampa, Florida -- The closure of the right northbound lane of I-275 between State Road 60 (Exit 39) and Lois Avenue due to developing potholes caused major backups Monday morning.
One to two lanes were closed for hours overnight to prepare for a traffic shift.
The traffic shift occurred west of West Shore Boulevard to west of Lois Avenue while crews repaired sections of asphalt.
FDOT said all lanes should be open by 5:30 a.m. for the heavy morning commuting hours, however as of 6:40 a.m., it was still closed resulting in heavy congestion for morning commuters. All lanes were reopened around 6:50 a.m. and after about an hour or so, traffic began to move smoothly through the area.
