Tampa, Florida --A three alarm fire temporarily shut down Nebraska Avenue early Saturday morning.

Tampa Fire Rescue crews responded to a fire at 915 E. Grant Ave. early Saturday morning. Upon arrival they found heavy smoke coming from the building and made entry through the front of the building.

They found flames in the main room of the building and quickly extinguished them. After conducting an initial search they began venting the structure when firefighters noticed flames coming from the rear interior of the building.

They evacuated and began fighting the fire which quickly spread throughout the structure. Due to the size of the blaze additional units were called in and eight engines, 2 ladder trucks, 2 rescue cars and other support apparatus responded.

Investigators are on site to determine the cause of the fire. There were no injuries reported.

The structure was home to the former Harbor Club but has been vacant for some time. City of Tampa public works is on scene and will demolish the building in the interest of safety.

Nebraska Ave. at Sitka was closed this morning but is now open to traffic.
