Tampa, FL-- A construction project project along a stretch of I-275 has caused drivers to find a different route.

As of Wednesday morning getting off at the bustling Dale Mabry exit though is no longer an option.

As a truck driver Scott Franckowiak travels this interstate on a regular basis and admits that shutting down the exit will only frustrate drivers.

"It's probably going to screw up traffic for a very long time," he says.

Because of the closed exit drivers are being diverted to alternate routes.

John McShaffrey from FDOT suggests taking the Himes exit instead which has already started to feel some of the traffic troubles this morning with back ups beginning as far back as Armenia.

This closure is only part of the four-year, $216.7 million project.

The goal is to reopen the Dale Mabry exit by September 2014, cutting it close to the Bucs' first home game.

"Well let's hope they finish it by September," said Franckowiak.

"We will be working with the Bucs to help with traffic issues," said McSchaffrey.

The entire project is set to be completed by fall 2016.

The interstate will have four lanes instead of three. You'll notice a wider median and a flatter roadway to help you see better on the road.
