Sidewalks coming to 4th St. N. north of Gandy Blvd.
10 News viewer Meredith emailed me that this year, her daughter will begin riding the bus for the first time. Meredith lives off of 4th Street N., north of Gandy Boulevard in St. Pete.
Her email said: "I would love [for] her to be able to walk to her bus stop with me, but there is no sidewalk between my complex and the bus stop."
She also mentioned that she knows this is not an overnight fix. I dug into this for Meredith, and it isn't going to happen overnight, but a repaving project is scheduled to begin next summer on 4th Street, north of Gandy. It includes 5-foot sidewalks on either side of the road. The sidewalk will start at 106th Avenue North and continue to the Big Island Gap, which is where 4th Street connects to I-275.
The full project is supposed to take about a year and a half, and that includes repaving the road.
