Tampa, Florida -- On Tuesday, the Hillsborough County administrator -- representing the Hillsborough County Policy Leadership Group, comprised of seven commissioners and three mayors -- unveiled a detailed proposal for bettering transportation in the county.

The plan focuses on uniting four primary areas of Hillsborough County -- Westshore, Downtown, Brandon and USF.

Based on the proposal, the first area that will most likely get attention is the nearly 6-mile corridor between Westshore and Downtown with a sort of experiment which includes increased and improved busing which would eventually give way to rail.

The plan includes improved busing, future rail options that could range from modern trolley cars to futuristic people movers, improved intersections and road expansion, bicycle trails and sidewalks, etc.

The high speed ferry from Gibsonton to MacDill Air Force Base even made the list.
