Iowa governor pardons Bonnie the pig before Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival
Gov. Terry Branstad helped kick off the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival by pardoning one lucky pig from ever ending up on the breakfast table. Bonnie, a purebred Berkshire gilt from Hilldale Farms in State Center, received the pardon at a ceremony Friday.
