As the sun continues to peak out this afternoon, we will heat up tot the mid and upper 80s. The warmer we get, the better our chances for showers will be. I expect to see a 40% chance for the remainder of the afternoon with slightly higher rain chances from DeSoto and Highland counties southward.
The pesky cold front is still draped over the Tampa area resulting in a gray day with passing showers and only a few breaks of sun. You will want to bring your umbrella today and even your sunglasses to cover for the bright spots. The rain will mainly be light and on and off through this afternoon. Winds will be light and variable eventually turning west today, but don't expect much as the proximity of the front will keep our winds light.
The winds will turn to the ENE Friday and through the weekend bringing back more sunshine, a few afternoon showers and storms and warm temperatures. Overall, rain chances will dip to the 30-40% range and highs will warm up to near 90.
Fall starts Saturday morning at 10:49am EDT, but it will still be warm and humid with highs near the normal of 89.
Today: Mostly cloudy skies with on and off showers and storms. Winds will start from the E then turn W this afternoon under a light wind regime. Highs will top out in the mid 80s.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy and mild with lows in the mid 70s. There will be an isolated shower 20%, and winds will be light from the east.
Marine Forecast: Winds SE-W 10 kts, seas averaging 2-3', smaller nearshore. There will be smooth with a light chop developing later this afternoon.
