Winter Storm Nemo: Why is a blizzard named after a cute Disney-Pixar fish?

(USA TODAY) -- Katie Couric posted a photo on Twitter a few minutes ago of a snowy New York street, and wrote: It's getting nasty out here!! How is it looking where you are? #Blizzard#Nemo."

And Justin Bieber, according to MTV, is "shrugging off Nemo," which means he isn't worried about the storm coming, even though he's hosting Saturday Night Live.

"Nemo" is trending.

Snowstorm Nemo, that is. The blizzard is predicted to be the "potentially historic" storm for the northeast. Three states - Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts - have each declared a state of emergency.

But all we can think of is that cute little Disney/Pixar fish, star of the 2003 film, Finding Nemo.

The Weather Channel chose the name, and it obviously seems to be, um, sticking.

According to the Weather Channel website, they picked it because: Nemo is a "Greek boy's name meaning 'from the valley,' means 'nobody' in Latin."

But, as the Los Angeles Times points out, to most of us it will always mean an adorable clownfish with the overprotective single dad.
