The planet is warming and greenhouse gasses coming from power plants and overall human activity is at least half to blame. But the IPCC reports northern and central Florida, is one region of the globe that has not experienced any appreciable warming from greenhouse gases.
Urban development and asphalt built up around I-4 and Tampa Bay is holding more heat and is responsible for a slower warming trend compared to other agrarian environments.
This doesn't mean global warming is not a threat to the Suncoast. Changes predicted for other parts of the world could still impact us -- especially stronger hurricanes.
