Plenty of sunshine, lower humidity

Evening forecast for Sept. 19, 2017

While many have their eyes set on the Caribbean as Hurricane Maria makes its way toward the USVI and Puerto Rico, our weather in the Tampa Bay Area will remain very pleasant. High pressure at the surface will dominate our weather as we head through the middle of the week with plenty of sunshine, seasonal temperatures and lower humidity. High temperatures today will be right around 90 degrees.

Through this evening, dry conditions will prevail allowing for comfortable temperatures under mostly clear skies. Low temperatures tonight will be in the middle 70s.

As we head into the second half of the week a little more moisture will begin to move in which will bring back a small chance for a few isolated to scattered afternoon showers or storms. High temperatures will remain near 90 degrees.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Maria will be moving through Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands as a dangerous Category 4 or 5 hurricane with life threatening winds, rain and storm surge. The storm will then begin to turn north through the southern Bahamas steering clear of Florida. While Maria is expected to stay clear of Florida we will likely still feel indirect impacts from the storm in the form of slightly breezy conditions this weekend into the beginning of next week.

Otherwise, expect relatively tranquil weather to continue through the weekend into early next week.

Have a great Tuesday!
