Baby gets prescription coverage she needs, following 10News report

TAMPA, Fla. (WTSP) - Last week we brought you the story of 9-month-old Lia Pickford, whose family was struggling to keep up with the cost of her medication. After initially covering the cost of Lia’s medicine, insurance carrier Florida Blue sent a letter saying the coverage would be discontinued, leaving Lia’s parents holding the tab for what amounted to $700 per month.

But after seeing our story Florida Blue went back and looked into the case. Upon review, Florida Blue was happy to inform us that they decided to cover Lia's medicine.

Christina Alesandrini, Lia’s mother, said she’s also had people reaching out to help her family after seeing the story, and the GoFundMe account set up to help the family get back on its feet has seen an uptick in donations.
