As of 10:00 PM Tropical Depression Ida has moved back over the warm waters of the NW Caribbean adjacent to Honduras.

Ida is expected to strengthen to Tropical Storm status tonight or Saturday.

The center of Ida was located near 16.2 N and 84.0 W or about 110 miles east-northeast of Limon Honduras.

Winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts.

Ida is moving north at 7 mph. As the storm enters the Gulf it will encounter unfavorable wind shear and cooler water temperatures. Some weakening is expected at that time and the storm may become extratropical by early next week.

A turn east toward Tampa or a southward turn is also possible by Wednesday. The Bay Area is currently in the eastern portion of the forecast cone early next week.

Rough seas, high surf, beach erosion are all possible along the waterfront here in the Bay Area.
