BRADENTON, Fla. - A 14-year-old student faces charges for creating a note implying that a shooting would take place at Manatee High School.
The student, a freshman at the school, will be charged with false report concerning planting a bomb, an explosive, or a weapon of mass destruction, or concerning the use of firearms in a violent manner. The charge is a second-degree felony.
The note, which was found on campus, indicated the shooting would take place on Feb. 22 at 12:15 p.m.
Investigators also found a second note on campus that threatened a school shooting on Feb. 21.
"Proactive measures are still in place as well as increased police presence at Manatee High and all local schools," Bradenton police said in a statement.
Both incidents are the latest in a series of threats of violence by students following the deadly school shooting in Parkland, including two Tampa students who were charged on Tuesday in separate incidents.
