Thanks for stopping by! My name is Katie Jones, and I am so excited to serve the communities of the Tampa Bay area. The Sunshine State is a beautiful and welcoming place to live, and I couldn’t be prouder to call it home.
I grew up in Houston, Texas, but later moved to the San Francisco area. After finishing high school, I packed up and moved across the country to New York to study journalism at Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications. Go Bombers!
My career later started at WBNG in Binghamton, New York where I worked as a reporter, anchor, and producer.
Binghamton is a tiny town in upstate New York known for getting lots of snow, sometimes even up to four feet in one night! Despite the freezing weather, I will always remember Binghamton for the warm and generous community I had the privilege of serving. During my time there, I covered important issues in local politics, Black Lives Matter protests, and severe winter storms.
In 2021, I decided to trade in my snow boots for flip flops, joining the 10 Tampa Bay family. As a digital reporter, I strive to bring a creative and interactive experience to how you consume news on social media.
When I’m not in the newsroom, I love fishing, boating, hitting the beach, and trying out new restaurants! I also spend time working on my saltwater aquarium, caring for my clownfish and corals.
If you have a story tip or just want to drop a restaurant recommendation, you can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org! You can also find me across all social media platforms with the handle, @katiejonestv.
