My name is Lia Fernandez, and I’m the Sarasota/Manatee County Bureau reporter for 10News. I have a passion for telling stories and a drive to get answers and hold people accountable for their actions. I want to be the voice to the voiceless, making sure the community feels heard.
For the last two years, I was a multimedia journalist/weekend anchor at WRDW/WAGT in Augusta, Georgia. As an anchor, I launched our first weekend morning show. While in Augusta, I had the opportunity to cover a wide variety of stories that have been picked up regionally, nationally, and internationally. I’ve also been recognized by the Georgia Associated Press for “Best Use of Sound” for a story.
I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in broadcast journalism and digital media minor. Go Knights!
Off the air, you can catch me at my favorite spots: the beach or the gym. I love being outside in the warm weather, spending time with family, or eating a nice home-cooked Cuban meal!
P.S. I’m a TV junkie so...NO SPOILERS!
