TAMPA, Fla. — Some of the top beaches in the world, the beautiful Nature Coast, and plenty of thunderstorms, what more could a weather nerd like me ask for? I'm beyond excited to be a part of this fantastic 10 Tampa Bay weather team.
My passion for weather started at a young age. Growing up in Wisconsin, I would watch the local news any time thunderstorms or winter storms were in the forecast. In fact, my love for the weather was so clear that my first-grade teacher predicted that I would grow up to be a broadcast meteorologist.
Fast forward a couple of years, and I ended up getting a degree in meteorology from UNC Asheville, where I also played college soccer as a goalkeeper. I had two summer internships in my college years, one with WKRN in Nashville and another at CNN in Atlanta.
After graduating, I took a job as a weekday morning meteorologist in north-central Wisconsin, back closer to family, where I saw enough snow and cold to last a lifetime. I then made the move south exploring the Ozarks at 10 Tampa Bay's sister-station KFSM in Arkansas. As a weekday morning meteorologist, I spent countless hours covering severe storms rolling in from the Great Plains overnight into the early morning hours.
While I have never lived in Florida, it isn't unfamiliar to me. I have family living in the Fort Lauderdale area, and I spent a whole summer playing semi-professional soccer in South Florida. Over the years, I have had several family vacations to the Sunshine State, including trips to Clearwater Beach and Siesta Key.
I am excited to explore the Tampa Bay area and all it has to offer. I'm a big fan of the outdoors, which is why I'm happy to call Florida home. Kayaking, fishing, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, camping, you name it outside, and I love to do it. You will often find my dog Zion alongside me on walks and hikes. I am always looking for new food to try and new things to do, so feel free to let me know some of your favorite places in the area!
