Current 'Jeopardy!' record holder Ken Jennings weighs in on 'Jeopardy! James'

James could soon surpass Jennings' earnings in far fewer games.

James Holzhauer quickly received the title 'Jeopardy! James' after consecutively winning multiple games in a row on the game show, creeping closer and closer to the top all-time winnings position.

'Jeopardy! James' won his 28th game on Monday evening, bringing his total earnings to $2,195.557.

Ken Jennings is the current record-holder for consecutive winnings and total earnings, with his 74-game winning streak that got him $2,520,700 in 2004, Good Morning America reports

Jennings appeared on GMA to weigh in on Holzhauer's ability to break his current earnings record.

"For 15 years I have thought somebody was going to make a run at this record because I always knew it could be done. I was there. I saw it happen," Jennings told GMA. "What I did not expect was somebody could make a run at the cash record in like a third the time."

Jennings adds that Holzhauer has played a more "relaxed game" and has rewritten the rules of playing 'Jeopardy!' as a professional sports gambler.

He welcomed Holzhauer into the '$2 million club' last week with a tweet.

Jennings told GMA that a face-off with Holzhauer would be comparable to two baseball legends competing like Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron.

"You know, we'll never know how Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron would have played at the same time because they were decades apart," he adds.
