Moon landing anniversary events
The 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing is Saturday, and Tampa Bay area organizations are celebrating with interactive and historic activities.
MOSI: The Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa will have rocket building and launching in the Science Park, space origami, guest presentations, shows and a replay of the original 1969 moon landing. The museum also showcases its new “One Small Step” exhibit. Included with museum admission.
Great Explorations Children’s Museum: The St. Petersburg museum will have space-themed activities created by NASA and the National Informal Science Institute. Included with museum admission.
Tarpon Springs Public Library: Free screening at 2 p.m. of a new Apollo 11 documentary.
Safety Harbor Library: A free Lunar Landing party at 11 a.m. will have crafts and games for kids.
Christmas in July
We’re still five months away from Christmas, but Sundial is celebrating the holidays Florida style. The courtyard will be turned into Santa’s workshop with free Christmas yoga in the morning with “snow flurries” at the end of class. There will also be free arts and crafts for kids, face painting, Christmas music, photo-ops with Santa and popsicle samples. Sundial shops will also be having pre-holiday sales. Yoga is 9-10 a.m., and the event is 5-8 p.m. Saturday.

Lego Movie Days
Everything is awesome at Legoland on select weekends through Aug. 4. Lego Movie Days is a celebration of all things The Lego Movie with photo-ops with movie characters, a Glitter and Glow Dancy Party, Lego mosaic building, scavenger hunts and specialty desserts like a Disco Drop Doughnut, caramel banana dessert pizza and a Cloud Cuckoo Land ice cream swirl. Guests can check out the event’s activities alongside the three new Lego Movie rides. Lego Movie Days are included with park admission. July 20-21, 27-28 and Aug. 3-4.

Nerdier Than Thou literary con
Wordier Than Thou brings back its literary convention Saturday at Emerald City Comics. The organization said the event is inspired by larger conventions like MegaCon Tampa and Tampa Bay Comic Con and those held at local libraries. Nerdier Than Thou con features local writers, comic book writers, comedians and paranormal investigators. The event from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Elvis: The Summer Festival
Back in 1962, Elvis filmed “Follow the Dream” in Inverness. Now, the city celebrates in a big way with a festival dedicated to the king of rock ‘n’ roll. The three-day festival features performances by seven of tribute artists at the Citrus County Auditorium. There will also be daily riverboat tours down the Withlacoochee River and Rainbow River with live performances onboard. Thursday through 11 p.m. Sunday.

Kid’s Day
Kid’s Day has a new location out of the sun in the Raymond James Stadium Club Level. Activities include pictures with the Buccaneer pirate ship, games with the Lightning and the RAys, obstacle courses, cooking making stations, an alligator attraction, raffles, visits with Tampa Fire Rescue, adoptable animals and a dance party. Kids 14 and under are free, and adults are $5. The event will also collect school supplies and donate a portion of ticket sales to the Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association.

Florida Hard Seltzer Fest
3 Daughters Brewing hosts its inaugural Hard Seltzer Fest Saturday. The event will feature 15 local bars and restaurants and a seltzer mixology contest. Tickets include unlimited drinks and food with proceeds benefiting the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. There will also be live music from 2 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $55. 4-7 p.m. Saturday.

Trashion Fashion Recycled Runway Show
ARTPool’s 12 annual recycled runway show features local designers crafting outfits all from recycled and eco-friendly materials. Guests will see fashion created from used Amazon boxes, newspaper and plastic bags. Admission is $20. 8-11 p.m. Saturday.

Meet the Dolphin Tale stars
Three stars from the Dolphin Tales will have appearances at Clearwater Marine Aquarium through Monday. Saturday and Sunday, Nathan Gamble, Austin Highsmith Garces and Cozi Zuehlsdorff will be around for Q&As, book readings, autographs and photo-ops. Included with aquarium admission. 12:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Fun Home at American Stage
American Stage’s first musical in four years is a deeply personal comedy based on the 2006 graphic memoir by Alison Bechdel. The show follows Alison at three stages in her life as she explores her childhood, her family, her sexuality and herself. Saturday has shows at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday as a 2 p.m. show. Select nights through Aug. 18. Tickets $48 and up.
