Residents, government officials and YMCA leaders dreamed for years and they dreamed big. Thursday night, their dream had a grand opening. The Spurlino Family YMCA in Riverview is open for business.
The $16.4 million facility includes more than 32,000 square feet of indoor space for workouts and meetings and an outdoor aquatic center with a variety of pools.
10News is also proud to have played a role in this important community project. A $33,000 grant from our parent company TEGNA’s foundation paid for an outdoor playground.
10News staff even helped build sections of the playground last fall.

Thursday night, kids got to try out the slides and climbing poles for the first time. Their screams and laughs seemed to indicate good reviews.
