TAMPA, Fla. — With a full studio setup tucked away in his bedroom, Bryan Sanchez creates beauty content to share with his thousands of followers.
"I love doing this. I work full time and make videos when I am free. I hope to do this full time one day." says Sanchez.
The 20-something, male beauty influencer says sharing his love of beauty made him a nervous wreck at first.
"It was January 2018 is when I deleted all of my old posts and just started posting makeup," he said. "It was just a picture of my eye makeup that I did, no one's ever seen me in makeup before and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, I'm about to post this," says Sanchez.
Coming out to his family during Christmas 2017, Sanchez says his relatives were surprisingly supportive and he couldn't be more thankful.
"I remember buying my mother makeup, but really wanting to buy the makeup for me. I did a look on my face, showed my mom, and she was like, 'Wow that looks good!'" says Sanchez.
Male beauty influencers often refer to themselves as "beauty boys."
"It wasn't always accepted, but it's growing and becoming more normal now. You see them in campaigns, on ads, on YouTube, you see boys in makeup all the time," says Sanchez.
With the goal of creating content, inspiring others and growing his platform, Sanchez hopes to continue learning and growing as a makeup artist.
"I make videos so people can learn," he says. "I love when people ask me what products I like or what they should use. I hope to move out to LA one day and really be a paid influencer. I have a lot of room to grow and I am excited about it."
