Tampa siblings launch hypoallergenic crayon business, so kids with allergies feel included

Jordan and Joshua make custom hypoallergenic crayon toys.

TAMPA, Fla. — Jordan and Joshua are allergic to just about everything and shared with their parents that they often feel left out because of their allergies.

"They have pollen allergies, trees, grass, and recently we discovered they are allergic to cats too," momTiana Liburd said.

The brothers know firsthand how kids feel when they are restricted on what food they can eat and activities they can join because of their allergies. So, they wanted to do something to help kids with allergies feel included.

They started JL Fun Colorz making and selling custom hypoallergenic crayon toys.

"We take a mold and then we would peel the wrapper off the crayons and put them in the mold, melt them and then from the mold you can make crayons!" Joshua Liburd said.

The brothers are hands-on and oversee everything from the design to the book-keeping. They recently sold their creations at the Kid Market at WestShore Plaza in Tampa.

"When its time to go buy crayons, they figure out how much we have of each color, how much we need to buy," Tiana Liburd said.

Along with accepting orders in person and online, the boys also donate sets of their creations to local foster children.

"One day maybe Crayola could partner with us and send us crayons monthly." Jordan Liburd said.
