Thanksgiving is, of course, a time when many of us think about food, but we don't think often enough about those who are without.

A Hernando County sheriff's deputy and animal enforcement officer, however, were thinking about the hungry when they came across a traveler on Thanksgiving morning.

The sheriff's office says Deputy Steve George and Animal Enforcement Officer Mandy Rowe encountered a man on a bicycle and his dog on Cortez Boulevard near Nunn Boulevard.

They stopped the man, who said he was headed toward Orlando, to see if he was in need of food or other assistance. The man said he was OK, but he'd be grateful for some food for his dog, Sasha.

The deputy and animal officer gave Sasha some dog food, and Sasha showed her appreciation with lots of kisses.

What an awesome way to spread some Thanksgiving cheer!
