Traps planted around trees to injure dogs, neighbors say

ASTORIA, N.Y. -- A dog owner's group says a developer put hidden traps around trees to injure animals who used it to go to the bathroom, and it is angering neighbors.

A member of the Astoria Dog Owners Group on Facebook named Mirko Savone posted pictures Thursday showing push pins mixed in with shredded tires in the planters around three trees.

He said his dog's paws were punctured.

⚠️WARNING⚠️ This developer allegedly just replaced all 3 planters in front of his building with black plastic pieces mixed with PINS 📌📌📌!! My dog got punctured and his paws are bleeding pretty bad. I...

He updated the post later, saying the police were investigating and his dog is doing fine.

WABC in New York reported a neighbor filed a complaint with the New York Department of Buildings.
