Best deals on household items during Amazon Prime Day

Giant retailers like Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Macy's and more are competing with sales of their own during this popular shopping event.

TAMPA, Fla. — Amazon Prime Day is a key day for shoppers looking to save big. We've seen the coronavirus pandemic force so many on hard times - with more than 12 million people unemployed around the country.

But Amazon isn't the only mega-retailer offering up great deals, especially when it comes to household items you may need.

"We are seeing 50 percent off on big brand names including the roomba and popular vacuums. With items up to 50 percent off that's where I would look when starting to find deals," Joanie Demer the cofounder of The Krazy Coupon Lady said.

With companies competing more with each other to offer up the best "deals," there are plenty to pick from this week.

"Yesterday, Target had a 33 inch TV for $77. It sold out quickly. We also expect TV deals to be even better on Black Friday," Demer said.

Some of the lowest household item deals you'll find include a down comforter for $20 from Macy's, a Tupperware set for $13 from Target, an Instant Pot for $49 at Walmart, bar stools for $89 from Amazon, a new cookware set for $100 from Walmart, kitchen carts for $79 from Home Depot and new vacuums for less than $120 from Walmart and Amazon. Even an armless loveseat for $220 from Wayfair that used to cost more than $1,000.

"There's so many extra ways to save, gift card opportunities on top of sale and clearance prices too," Demer said.

Demer says if you need household appliances, now is the time to buy them. And Demer says both Amazon and Target are also offering $10 for every $50 spent on toy purchases.

"Even outside of electronics, household appliances and toys are the two other segments we are seeing really incredible deals in," Demer said.

With a budget and list of items you need, she says don't forget to research other stores to see if they have a better price.

"This isn't hype, these deals are incredible. The way you come out ahead is to come in with a budget. If you accidentally spend $500 that you weren't planning to spend, you can still blow your budget," Demer said.

Demer says to remember, if you don't see an item you need on sale now, Black Friday and holiday deals are right around the corner.
