A St. Petersburg company is issuing a recall of its 4-ounce Biltmore Smoked Sockeye Salmon, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Seven Seas International USA issued the recall because of possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, which is an organism known to cause serious and sometimes deadly infections.
Publix grocery stores in Florida are the only place the recalled salmon was sold.
Only products with Production Code 41CM and a sell-by date of May 23, 2019, are subject to this recall. All other production codes are not part of this recall. The product carries the following UPC code: 007-36211-88774.
No illnesses have been reported as of Wednesday.
Publix customers who have purchased this product are advised not to consume it. The FDA said they can return it to the store where it was originally purchased for a full refund.
