10-year-old boy airlifted to hospital following water rescue at Lido Beach

Three people were rescued after they were swept out to sea by rip currents in Lincoln City.

SARASOTA, Fla. - Three people were taken to area hospitals, including a 10-year-old who was airlifted, following a water rescue at Lido Beach after they were caught in a rip current, Sarasota County Emergency Services said.

Authorities responded to the 400 block of Benjamin Franklin Drive after lifeguards contacted emergency dispatchers.

The 10-year-old was flown to All Children's Hospital. The two adults were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

No further information was immediately available.
