2 men accused of street racing on Gandy Bridge, one with kids in car

In the days after a high-profile tragedy on Bayshore Boulevard, Tampa police arrested two men street racing on the Gandy Bridge.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Two men are accused of street racing on the Gandy Bridge over the weekend, and one of them had two children in the car.

Michael Lemire, 27, and 28-year-old Michael Segler were caught around 11:45 p.m. Saturday on the Tampa side of the bridge, according to a Tampa Police Department news release.

Both are St. Petersburg residents.

The two were caught amid a street-racing crackdown on the bridge, the release states.

In addition to both being charged with unlawful racing on a highway, a misdemeanor, Lemire was charged with two counts of felony child neglect for the two kids riding as passengers.
