ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Pinellas County sheriff's deputies found a man dead inside of a home Thursday morning after a standoff.
Sheriff's deputies said they found the 43-year-old man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the home on 60th Avenue North near 28th Street North.
Deputies will reopen the roadways in the area and returning neighbors who evacuated their homes.
Deputies received a call about a domestic incident around 11:54 p.m. Wednesday.
A 45-year-old woman told deputies her boyfriend grabbed her by her hair, threw her on the bed and hit her multiple times.
Deputies say they evacuated about eight people inside.
The man told deputies he was not coming out of his bedroom to speak with them. While trying to talk him out of the home, deputies heard the sound of a single gunshot from the area of his bedroom.
Deputies spent more than four hours trying to talk with the man.
