CLEARWATER, Fla. -- A Clearwater police officer has been arrested after a Wednesday morning domestic dispute with his girlfriend.

Christopher England is accused of getting into an argument that turned physical just after midnight at his home. According to an arrest affidavit, the argument was over dinner not being made.

The affidavit said England grabbed his girlfriend around the neck, then pushed her and tried to stop her from calling 911.

He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail and has been charged with domestic battery and tampering with a witness.

England has been an officer with the Clearwater police force for five years.

He will be put on administrative duty pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation.
