TAMPA, Fla. — Hillsborough County deputies are looking for a driver they say was involved in a hit-and-run crash with a taxi cab that had an elderly man inside.
Deputies say a taxi driver transporting a 91-year-old wheelchair-bound passenger was hit by a vehicle around 9:45 p.m. Thursday on East Fletcher Avenue at North 19th Street.
Witnesses of the crash described the vehicle as a blue 2019 Nissan Rogue. The driver of the Nissan drove away from the scene, according to deputies.
Both the taxi driver and passenger were sent to be treated at AdventHealth. Both men were conscious and alert at the scene of the crash, deputies say.
Deputies continue to search for the driver of the Nissan and have provided a stock photo of the vehicle.
Anyone with information on the driver is asked to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200. Crime stopper tips are eligible for a cash reward, and the hotline can be reached at 1-800-873-8477. You can also submit an anonymous tip online by clicking here.
